Long time Hornet Jamie Ryan, the co-captain of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) women's soccer team, led the Ridgebacks to the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) championship in London, ON in early November. Jamie then powered her team to a Bronze Medal performance at the National Championships (CIS), held at Acadia University in Wolfville, NS. The teams only loss at the CIS championships was a 2-1 loss in extra time to Laval University; who would go on to capture Gold.
These are incredible accomplishments for a team that was formed only 5 years ago, and a new record for both the OUA and the CIS. The Ottawa Gloucester soccer community is proud to note Jamie's leadership and on-field accomplishments. The accounting major deserves some credit for these important team and individual accomplishments, particularly given that Jamie was the inaugural recruit into the UOIT women's soccer program.
Congratulations to Jamie, and her parents Kim and Tom; who both dedicated a great deal of time to our Club. Many will remember Tom as our former Hornets Chair.
Jamie came up through the Hornets' system, and we're proud to have her as a life-long Hornet.
