Team Gets Stronger Over Weekend to Secure Silver

On the weekend of July 7 & 8 the OGSC Hornets G2004 Sting traveled to Kingston for the Ambassador Cup. The team kicked off the tournament with a disappointing loss to Niagara Empire United 2-1.

Following that opening match the team took off, beating Cumberland SC 2-1 and OSU Force White 5-0. Following those matches the team needed a little help to make the semi-finals and they got it to set up a game against Ottawa City  SC, a team they have had problems with in the past This time the Sting put in a dominating performance winning 2-0, setting up a final against Cumberland SC.

In the final the team gave up a free kick goal in the early going, then dominated most of the rest of the match, just missing opportunities to equalize. In the end they settled for a hard won silver medal.

Congratulations to Coach Janek and the players for working hard to get back in the tournament and deliver a silver medal.
