Jonathan David

Jonathan David joined the Ottawa Gloucester Hornets Soccer Club in 2011. Jonathan was part of an exceptional team while with the Hornets, where his abilities and talents were evident to all that saw him play.  Jonathan is developing into one of Canada's most accomplished soccer players - playing in Europe and for the Canadian National team. 

Jonathan made his professional debut with the Belgian club Gent at the age of 18. After a successful time at Gent being one of the leading scorers in the top Belgian league with 18 goals, Jonathan signed with the French Ligue side 1 Lille in 2020 as the most expensive Canadian transfer ever. 

In 2019, Jonathan was voted the Canadian Player of the Year with a record-breaking season with Canada Soccer's Men's National Team and professional club KAA Gent in Belgium and UEFA Europa League. Jonathan set a Canadian men's record with 8 international goals, including a Canadian record 6 goals at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, where he was a tournament all-star and Golden Boot winner. Jonathan recently lead the Canadian Men's National Team on their path to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup where they reached their highest-ever FIFA ranking at NO.33. Jonathan helped Canada top the CONCACAF qualifying group to secure their spot in the 2022 World Cup - the first time Canada has appeared on the world stage since 1986.

At 23 years old,  Jonathan plays in the French Ligue 1 for Lille. Through the 2020-2021 season, Jonathan helped secure the French Ligue 1 title with the club, contributing to the game with a match-opening goal. His performance in the past few years is creating new pathways for Canadian Players.
